Finally arrived

Hi all, I have finally arrived in the blogging world!

Today I have been working on the poster and flyer for a fundraiser event that I am organising with a fellow artist. We need to raise money to run a series of art workshops called ‘Leegate Arts Project’. The fundraiser will take place on the 19 November. Yes, next month!

Quick summary of the project:
For our first venture we will be running a 2-month intergenerational community arts workshop. We will be working with local residents to develop a community exhibition in the rundown Leegate shopping centre in the borough of Lewisham, SE London. Our aim is to help revitalise the area and improve relations between young and older people after the recent riots. The workshops will run 2 days a week from November.

We have managed to secure funding from Lewisham council, but need to raise additional funds, hence the fundraiser event.

Organising an art workshop, fayre and a music event:
Not easy (especially with a full time job), but fun. Thanks to half term, I have had a bit of time to organise musicians to play at the event, get on with marketing (used facebook again, but I’m still not sure about my opinion of using facebook as a socially media) and found people to sell art and crafts on the stalls.
